Course Description:

Psychological First Aid teaches skills to deal with the public to reduce the initial distress caused by traumatic events and to foster short- and long-term adaptive functioning and coping. This Psychological First Aid (PFA) model was developed by professionals based at the National Child Traumatic Stress Network and the National Center for PTSD.

Objectives:
 Identify the intervention strategies of Psychological First Aid (PFA)
 Gain skills to implement the intervention strategies
 Adapt Psychological First Aid in diverse settings and with different populations
 Appreciate the importance of providing PFA in the aftermath of disaster

 

 

Target Audiences:

Emergency Management professionals, disaster volunteers (MRC, VOAD, CERT), Medical professionals, First Responders, Mental Health professionals
